Honi Harlow (that’s Honi with an I) but just as sweet. Honi was nothing but a country girl with big glitter dreams. Her path was chosen at the age of three when she preformed for a family gathering her “I’m the Boom Boom girl” number wearing only her older sisters head bands and singing at the top of her lungs. Needles to say her career was put on hold for several years, and her sister was pissed! It was a long and twisted road before she landed in New York and became the choreographer and member of Eva Brontosaurs a now debunked 80’s all girl cover band “Who’s a rock star? We are!” at least that’s what we thought. (Recent rumblings the group has restarted in LA.) Along the way she developed serious skills acting, singing, dancing and choreographing. She has played such roles as Miss Julie on tour in Maribor Slovenia, Queen Margaret in Lublin Poland and Helen of troy in Thessanloniki, Greece where she drank red wine and dance with the gypsies late in to the night and ruined a great pair of DKNY Sandals dancing in the Aegean Sea, but it was worth it.
You name a New York burlesque show and Honi has probably performed in it or with some luck hopefully will be. The Knitting Factory, P.A. H.G. Bowery poetry club, Starshine Burlesque Rifi, Sweet and Nasty burlesque Rifi, Surf Burlesque bowery poetry club, Guest performer for the School of Burlesque the Slipper Room, The Hillbilly Hay Ride Mo Pitkins, the Mermaid Parade Ball, the Follies du Fromage Burlesque at the Beach Coney Island, and the 2006 Burlesque Festival Closing night at the Supper Club with the Belles of the Bowery. Let’s not forget the NYC theaters WOW Theatre, One Arm Red, HERE Theatre, Chashama, and the Ensemble studio theatre.
Honi has produced her own shows in such Manhattan venues as The Cutting Room, The Slipper Room, Mo Pitkins, Danny’s Skylight Room, and Vital Theatres Late Night on Broadway! She is also the choreography consultant for Jo Boob’s Belles of the bowery and sometime member.
And now is choreographing the burlesque numbers for the up coming NBC TV show “the Black Donnelly’s” produced by Paul Haggis
